IWC Ingenieur SL Reference 1832 “Jumbo”: A Detailed History and Technical Guide
The IWC Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 (“Jumbo”) is the rarest member of Gérald Genta’s 1970s integrated-steel sports watch lineage—launched in 1976, overbuilt with a soft-iron anti-magnetic cage (~80,000 A/m / ~1,000 gauss) and powered by IWC’s in-house Cal. 8541ES (Pellaton winding, hacking seconds). Produced in very small numbers (often cited under 1,000 total across variants), it failed commercially at the time—but today its extreme scarcity, Genta design pedigree, and tool-watch engineering make it a serious collector target.
